Bill Corey is our resident research data management expert, providing data management plan reviews and guidance on implementation. As part of the Research Data Services group, Bill works with colleagues to advance the best practices in data documentation, sharing, and archiving across the University. He works with the Library’s repository team to promote our institutional resources, and with offices around Grounds to increase awareness around data ownership and access policies. Bill also contributes to our research software support, and serves as the liaison to the McIntire School of Commerce.
Bill is a member of The Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM), the International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology (IASSIST), and the American Library Association (ALA). He has a BA in Philosophy from George Mason University, and a Masters in Library and Information Science from Florida State University. He has completed several certifications and course work in Copyright and Intellectual Property Management from both the U.S. and Global perspectives.
His areas of focus include research data management, open access, intellectual property, data ownership, licensing, copyright, data access and sharing policies, data repositories, and open source software.
Bill is also the Library representative to the UVA Staff Senate, and a staff representative on the UVA Committee on Benefits (aka Benefits Committee).
