Esther is responsible for ensuring smooth operation of Interlibrary Services, stacks management, and reserves across the libraries, and provides leadership in projects designed to optimize library spaces, including expansion of Ivy Stacks, facilitating space needs for Total Advising in Clemons Library, and planning for Alderman renewal. She is also the current liaison for HathiTrust and Google.
Before coming to UVA, Esther was a professional law librarian at the Federal Reserve Board, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Maryland General Assembly, providing outreach, research and reference assistance, managing an online catalog and creating online resources.
Esther came to UVA in 1997 as the librarian for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS), creating a new program of services for off-Grounds students. In November of 2006 she was chosen to be the Google Book Project Manager. Upon the successful conclusion of the GBP in 2010, she served as project manager for the institutional repository before becoming head of the Brown Science & Engineering Library, where she improved the visibility of Library collections, expanded a program of library instruction, and improved student spaces for Brown and the other science libraries.
